Terms of Service
These are the rules for using ShieldDeposit, written to be read rather than to trip you up. Using ShieldDeposit means you agree to them. Each section starts with a plain-English line; the sentence after it is the part that's binding.
1. Our role
In plain terms: we hold the money, we're not a side in your tenancy.
ShieldDeposit acts as a neutral escrow facilitator for residential tenancy deposits in Nigeria. We do not own or control the deposit funds beyond the role specified in each tenancy agreement.
2. Fees
In plain terms: one flat fee, shown before you pay.
We charge a transparent flat fee per protected deposit. The fee is shown before payment is taken.
3. Disputes
In plain terms: if you disagree, a neutral panel decides on the evidence.
Disputes are reviewed by an independent panel based on evidence submitted by both sides.
4. Liability
In plain terms: if something goes wrong on our side, what we owe is capped at the deposit we were protecting.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the deposit amount protected.
Full terms will be finalised with our lawyers before launch. [DRAFT — TODO: legal review]
